We’re often asked at HAPUK for ideas and advice about support literature and equipment for therapists setting out in the practise of EMDR.
HAPUK have a range of particularly useful and simple guides to EMDR, both for practitioners and for clients/patients, and these can be ordered by following the link to EMDR Equipment Europe.
We’re often also asked for recommendations where best to buy EMDR equipment – light bars, buzzers, headphones and so on – and would like to offer the following thoughts.
EMDR EQUIPMENT EUROPE
Ulf Jarisch, a regular attendee at EMDR conferences across Europe with his comprehensive book stall, is the UK distributor for what many of us at EMDR find are very reliable equipment sets, with hand buzzers that don’t burn out in a couple of months, and a simple light bar which always goes down well with clients.
His equipment comes with a two-year guarantee, and can be ordered direct from his website. Ulf also sells EMDR support CDs, for clients to use on their own or indeed which can be used in session for bilateral stimulation in place of either hand-led eye movements or audio/tactile.
NEUROTEK
Neurotek in the United States are perhaps the longest-established providers of EMDR equipment, and if you’ve had EMDR yourself or been introduced to equipment by therapist colleagues, there’s a good chance that this is the equipment you’ve seen.
They sell a very wide range of support equipment, including so-called Lapscan screens which client can hold themselves, and generating a range of different eye movements.
Neurotek equipment is very popular, guaranteed for three months and, ordered from the US, also subject to UK import duties.
THERATAPPERS

These simple hand buzzers are again imported from the US, and are said to be very popular with clients.
The warranty here is one year, and Theratappers charge $30 to replace the set – minus cables, which are more resilient – if it wears out within that time.
