EMDR Resources benefiting Trauma Aid UK

We’re often asked at Trauma Aid UK for ideas and advice about support literature and equipment for therapists setting out in the practice of EMDR.

EMDR Guides

Trauma Aid UK has a range of particularly useful and simple guides to EMDR, both for practitioners and for clients/patients, and these can be ordered by following the link to EMDR Equipment Europe.

They can also now be bought online for Kindle, here for the Therapist’s Handbook (Case Formulation, Principles, Forms, Scripts and Worksheets) and here for the Client’s Handbook.

EMDR Equipment

EMDR EQUIPMENT EUROPE

EMDR Equipment EuropeUlf Jarisch, a regular attendee at EMDR conferences across Europe with his comprehensive book stall, is the UK distributor for what many of us at EMDR find are very reliable equipment sets, with hand buzzers that don’t burn out in a couple of months, and a simple light bar which always goes down well with clients.

His equipment comes with a two-year guarantee, and can be ordered directly from his website. Ulf also sells EMDR support CDs, for clients to use on their own or indeed which can be used in session for bilateral stimulation in place of either hand-led eye movements or audio/tactile.

Printed materials

All the following can be ordered directly from Ulf Jarisch at MyBookStation, with proceeds going to support the work of Trauma Aid UK. Click the links to buy – all items £5, except the booklet for working with children, which is £3.50.

ProtocolProtocols:

Possibly Trauma Aid UK’s best-seller, and a useful summary of the entire basic EMDR protocol on one side of A4, in two columns on a big pad, a new sheet for each target, guiding you through the steps in order, with space to make notes. Especially valuable for therapists starting out on EMDR.

EMDR Handbook for ClientsEMDR Handbook for Clients

The perfect summary to hand to clients at the start of EMDR therapy, setting out how it works and how it’s applied, and with space for clients to capture their keystone memories and the associated cognitions, and track their own progress. Note that this book can also be bought in e-book form and downloaded from Amazon, here, for slightly less cost.

Shapiro BookletEMDR Therapists’ Handbook – Case Formulation, Principles, Forms, Scripts and Worksheets

Direct from Francine Shapiro herself, outlines and summarises in simple, direct language how EMDR is best applied, all the way through the three prongs and the eight stages. Greatly prized by newcomers still getting used to the protocol, but invaluable too for older hands concerned to keep their practise sharp. Note that this book can also be bought in e-book form and downloaded from Amazon, here, for slightly less cost.

EMDR For Young ChildrenExplaining EMDR – a Story for Young Children.

Simple description for children of what happens in an EMDR session which can be used in preparation for EMDR work.

Note that this brochure comes in pink for female therapists, and in blue for male therapists, with subtle differences in wording and approach that matter when working with the very young. When ordering, please specify which version you would like.

EMDR and MourningEMDR and Mourning.

First class summary by Dutch senior EMDR trainer Joany Spierings of the nature and quality of bereavement, and how EMDR can be used to address the pain of loss that has become stuck and facilitate the process of healthy grieving.
